Community, Meta's $17B Settlement, and This Month's AI Audit Prompt
By Redic Grant, Founder & CEO, MRJ Consulting
This week reminded me why we do this work. On Saturday, MRJ was proud to be one of the sponsors of the Thomas Seabron Jr. Memorial Golf Charity Outing, benefiting the PUCC Sunday School Program — a cause that invests directly in Detroit's kids. Being part of the committee that brought it together, from sponsors to signage, was a reminder that the same discipline that builds a marketing system builds a community event: a clear plan, the right people, and everyone doing their part on time.
That's the thread running through this issue — whether it's a golf outing or a $17 billion settlement making headlines this week, the businesses (and causes) that win are the ones with a system behind them.
In the Community: Thomas Seabron Jr. Memorial Golf Charity Outing

Last Saturday, MRJ Consulting was proud to be one of the sponsors of the Thomas Seabron Jr. Memorial Golf Charity Outing, held in honor of Tom's legacy and benefiting the PUCC Sunday School Program. Redic served on the planning committee alongside a small group of dedicated organizers who handled everything from venue and sponsorships to registration and signage over several months of planning.
Events like this are exactly why MRJ stays rooted in Detroit. Supporting the causes our community shows up for isn't separate from the business — it's part of how we build trust that no ad campaign can buy. Congratulations and thank you to the full committee for turning months of planning into a great day on the course for a great cause.
What We're Watching: Meta's $17 Billion Settlement
This week, Meta agreed to pay up to $16.7 billion — with a possible $5 billion more — to settle claims from U.S. states that Facebook and Instagram were designed in ways that harmed children's mental health. As part of the deal, Meta will cap under-18 usage at two hours a day, block access from midnight to 6 a.m., limit notifications during school hours, hide like counts for minors, and offer a chronological feed option. Meta also publicly called on YouTube and TikTok to adopt the same standards.
Why it matters for our clients: this is the clearest signal yet that platforms are moving toward more guardrails, not fewer, especially around younger audiences. If your business markets to families, schools, or younger demographics on Meta platforms, expect engagement patterns and ad reach to shift as these changes roll out over the next year. It's worth revisiting your content strategy now rather than reacting later — another example of the businesses with a system adjusting faster than the ones without one.
This Month's Prompt: The 60-Second Audit
Here's a prompt we give our clients to run once a month. Open Claude (or your AI tool of choice) and paste this in:
"I run a [type of business] in [city/industry]. Here is what my last 30 days of marketing looked like: [describe — social posts, emails sent, content published]. Score my consistency on a scale of 1–10 across content output, follow-up speed, and client communication. Then give me the single highest-leverage change I could make this week."
It takes 60 seconds and tells you exactly where to spend your next hour of marketing time — no guessing, no overwhelm.
On Micah's Desk This Week
Micah spent this week getting ahead of September: refreshing the social content calendar with a Meta-settlement explainer post for clients who market to younger audiences, cleaning up contact and deal properties in HubSpot after a busy month of new inbound leads, and pulling photos and quotes from Saturday's golf outing to repurpose into LinkedIn and Instagram content. If you sponsored or attended the outing and have a photo to share, send it her way — it may show up in next week's recap post.
